Some Observations about Doraemon 小叮噹

Doraemon needs no introduction. I am sure you know who he is.

Doraemon is one of the comic I read since childhood. I remember standing at my neighborhood bookshop for hours reading the comic book (for Free) in Mandarin. I can relate to many things in that comic during my childhood days.

Not only Doraemon looked cute but this is one comic that does not have violence (fighting) and no arc enemy. What kept me hooked was the new gadgets in every chapters that Doreamon pulled out from his pocket. I just loved that pocket. Those gadgets are real handy and fun to have if it comes to real life.

Another good point about reading the comic was that you do not need to worry about missing some stories before as the comic rarely related to one another.

Doraemon reflected and address many issues about life closer to home for a kid.

Here are some of my observations regarding Doraemon comic:

1. When Novita got into problem, he did not seek his parents for help but instead turned to Doreamon. Why is that so? Could it be the parents were too busy or the parents cannot relate themselves to the kid? Many a time we see kids turned to an "imaginary friend" to talk about his/her problems that he/she has rather to confine with their parents.

2. Bring closer to home are the two bullies in the comic, a Rich kid who boast about all things he has and a physical bigger size kids that push people around using his size.

3. Ah yes, the first love of Novita. Many times he tired to impress her too soon by boasting and proofing something that he was not capable of. He was lucky to have Doraemon to save the day. I am sure any kid will want a doraemon to help them as well.

4. Notice all the characters do not have siblings? Maybe it was how Japan was that time that they only can afford 1 kid. It is not good for a kid to be alone tho.

Personally I have seen Doraemon comic and anime dubbed in Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese in Asia for the span of 3 decades. I am certain it will still be around for more years to come.

Ghost Hunt Anime

This anime really kept me on the seat.

Okay if you are watching this series, try not to put too much religious belief. It is a mixture of many cultures and it would be silly to take this seriously by asking which is more powerful than the other. At the End of the day my friend, It is a Fiction. However most of the encounters in the series will not be foreign to us especially to the asian.

Mai, a young student was working with a group of paranormal researcher. The leader is a cool young male teenage who is intelligent but rather anti-social. With the help of other gifted personnels of various religion, they become a perfect team that brings you to a world of paranormal encounters.

The sound tracks capture the mood of the story well. The opening theme was superb but of late, they took it out. Hope they can bring it back in again. The closing theme leave you with some sorrowful tune. Mainly make out of music instrument and hardly sing (If you consider high pitch hyming as singing then they were singers).

I was astound by how the story were told and each series. The lead actress, Mai discover more and more secret gift every week.

If I would to summarize the plot of the story in the series, it would be like the following:

Everything happen, happens for a reason and this series will show you the reason.

Anime: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱

Just finish watching this series with a unique plot and story telling.

Haruhi Suzumiya is a young teenage multi-talented gal who is socially detach. She join many every club in school only to find dissatisfaction. Kyon her classmate (the male lead in the show) manage to strike a decent communication with her. Haruhi Suzumiya express her desire to meet aliens, time traveler and other out-of-this world experiences that she decided to form her own club named SOS Bridge. Every of her desire came true where unknowing to her but knowing thru Kyon that all other club member are alien, time traveler and esper.

Personally I was rather impress by the way the storytelling of every episode. Some of which started with the story telling in the middle of some event without any knowing what happen before even after the whole episode. It is however fresh and sweet. What do you expect when you enter the mind of a young teenage mind? It is after all The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

One thing remain however, the ended was a happy one like all stories. Oh! the opening and ending songs are nice too! :)

Full Metal Panic the Second Raid

Just finish this series. Short and sweet of 13 chapters. Personally I prefer this series then the previous, "Fumofu".This series have more serious theme and more robot fighting scene. Terrorist were on the rise again and the battle field move to Hongkong. Suprise to hear japanese trying to speak cantonese. Really Funny.

The main leads, Sousuke finally learn how to operate fully the Lambas Driver and defeated 5 venom single handed. The relationship of Sousuke and Kaname move to a higher level. Sousuke finally make a choice of how he is going to live his life and what is important to him.

A new japanese word I learned in this series:

オーケーです (mon-dan-ne-ai) = No problem

A phase that Sousuke always said.

Keroro Gunso the MOVIE

Finally Keroro make it to the big screen! Keroro Gunso the movie with a running time of 1 hour plus includes the regulars keroro team with introduction of 2 new characters, Mirara and Kiruru. keroro will be appearing Ultra-man like, towering over building to face off with the bad guy. The movie challenged their teamwork and trust of each members. Together they will undo the destruction of the earth.

Notice the X on keroro face? That is a mark and an important part of the plot. The movie met the expectation of the fans. It is heart warming and entertaining. Keroro!

City Hunter & Angel Heart 北条司

I started reading "City Hunter", a Jap Manga (in chinese translation) way back in 1990s. I was impressed by Tsukasa Hojo (北条司) drew the characters and the uniqueness of the story. Later I went ahead to buy the first Soundtrack of this anime in cassette tape and I was totally blew off by the songs. Althought I didnt get to see the anime back then of "City Hunter" as it is rather mature in theme.

After City hunter the series was wraped up. I have stop reading his comic due to the turn off his insane "Fcomp" Yucks! Later "Angel heart" was out in 2003 but then I stop reading comic but I was suprise it has to with the characters of "City Hunter". I think he is trying to redeem himself from the preverted theme of "Fcomp".

Now Angel Heart had be release in Anime and like City hunter, it has fair bit of action, nice soundtrack, above all good characters and storyline. It is rather touching in some part of the story.

Plot Summary:

A young Taiwanese professional assassin codenamed "Glass Heart" committed suicide by jumping off a building, and her heart was pierced by a metal fence. She was saved by heart transplantation with the heart. During her recovery she began to experience strange dreams, which led her to Japan looking for the donor of her heart, who happens to be Kaori Makimura, former partner and lover of City Hunter who was killed in an tarffic accident.

Finally I have managed to finish watching this anime. Many will think this is a prevert anime due to the fact the characters are in sexy maid uniform but sorry to disappoint you. Yes, it may look misleading using sexiness as a selling point of this series but the storyline sucks.

Funny side was the gals Izumi and Mitsuki kept a alligator, Pochi as a pet who look more like a hippo if you ask me.

Characteristic of the show are:

Every end of the show, you will see the total amount of Izumi's outstanding debts.

Almost every time when Izumi call out for God, it will show 2 cute creatures in heaven enjoying themselves. :duh:

half way through this series, I lost my interest but I drag myself to complete it anyway. Yes, the wonder of boredom. Nevertheless the soundtracks are catchy and the drawing look good for my standard. If they change the storyline, it may work better.

Fate Stay Night

Just catch this Anime and understand now why people are so crazy about the characters in the show. Unlike other Anime which use sexy stuff to sell, the female here are all rather "covered" but they are cool in their own ways. The songs are quiet alright. Like all Type moon production, seems like all its Anime have to do with night and moon. The background songs are done by a high pitch female singing whatever language I do not understand but it make the story more magical.

Saber is my all time favorite. A cool, pretty and intellegent servant to a male master. :D
